Key Responsibilities
Due to ongoing growth and a strong pipeline of future work, we require a number of seasonal ecologists to join our highly respected team of ecologists in Inverness.
As a seasonal Ecologist, you will be working on a variety of critical projects supporting our clients in the low carbon economy to deliver renewable energy projects, nature-based solutions, biodiversity net gain advice, habitat and peatland restoration and nature conservation solutions.
Your role will include undertaking ornithology, habitat and protected species surveys, providing Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) support, and assisting with data input, analysis, research, and report writing - giving you invaluable experience of survey methodologies, mitigation and best practice techniques.
Seasonal roles are on 6-to-8-month fixed term contract commencing February/March 2024. However, many of our seasonal ecologists go on to secure a full-time position with us!
Who are we looking for?
- Currently working towards or a graduate in a relevant environmental or ecology-based subject.
- An appreciation of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
- An interest in ornithology and ability to identify bird species would be advantageous.
- Attention to technical detail, in both recording and transcribing/checking survey data.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Good report-writing skills, with eye for detail.
- Use of MS Word and Excel for report writing purposes.
- A willingness to work in remote locations and, staying away from home for extended periods during the working week.
- A full driving licence.
