Seasonal Ecologists
The Position:
The roles will be at our 'Ecologist' grade, which assumes at least 1 – 3 year's experience in undertaking ecological/ornithological surveys in accordance with published methodologies, and we are particularly interested in hearing from self-motivated candidates who can demonstrate a track record in any one of the following:
- Experience of undertaking ornithology surveys, ideally including VP surveys for wind farms and/or holding a Schedule 1 bird licence.
- Experience of undertaking bat activity, emergence and static monitoring surveys using Anabat and/or SM2 bat detectors, ideally with some experience of data analysis using Analook software.
- Experience of undertaking great crested newt surveys. Competence in the identification of aquatic macrophytes and aquatic invertebrates is essential.
- Experience of botanical surveys, ideally including bryophytes. Good botanical identification skills across all higher plant groups, including grasses, sedges and rushes is essential, and experience of NVC survey in upland environments would be an advantage.
The post will involve being in the field for approximately 80% of the time, often in remote locations; therefore a good level of physical fitness and the ability to drive are also critical requirements.
