Atmos success at Cairngorm Classic
A trio of renewable energy experts from Atmos Consulting cycled one of the UK's toughest and most beautiful routes last weekend when they participated in the Cairngorms Classic race.
Atmos Consulting's team was among the hundreds of cyclists taking part in the 156km race on June 13, which finished on the mountain commonly known as Scotland's Alpe d'Huez due to its sheer steepness and difficulty to navigate.
The three team members did the company proud. Simon Tribe, Managing Director, came in 27th place with a time of 05:12:37 while Project Manager Sam Hesling came in 34th in 05:18:56. Regional Director Fraser Mackenzie, based in the Inverness office, completed the 50 mile version of the race in 03:10:27, coming in joint 65th place.
Simon Tribe said: "This is the second year that Atmos Consulting has sponsored and participated in the Cairngorms Classic. It's definitely a challenging race but Fraser, Sam and I were all pleased with our times.
"We have a lot of keen cyclists in the company so there's always a lot of interest in the race. We work on environmental projects all around the Highlands and these races are a great opportunity for members of staff from around the country to see some of our projects."
The Cairngorms Classic is the UK's highest road race at 632m above sea level. The route winds through the mountains of the Cairngorms and through Spey Valley, usually famous for its many whisky distilleries.
Atmos Consulting is the official sponsor of the Cairngorms Classic and other upcoming races, all run by Hands on Events. Upcoming events include the Ullapool Sportive in September which is the UK's most northern cycling event and the Bealach Mor which includes the UK's steepest 'killer' climb, reaching a height of 626m above sea level in just 10km.
