Atmos' presents at national wind energy and the historic environment conference

Atmos' Prinicpal Planner presented alongside English Heritage and Historic Scotland to an audience of 160 attendees at a recent event on wind energy and the historic environment in Newcastle.

The event was first established by historic environment professionals in the north east of England looking to set up a conference around the subject area.  Due to a large amount of interest, it has since turned into a national event.

The main topics of discussion during the day were:

  • Feed-in Tariff scheme projects are seen as the next big challenge in onshore renewables
  • There appears to be no consistency in Inspectors' decisions in England regarding the extent of settings of historic heritage assets in wind energy appeals
  • The loss of RSS targets and spatial policy in England for renewable energy development is anticipated to have a significant effect giving rise to more appeals and delays to projects
