About Feed-in Tariffs
On April 1st 2010, the UK Government, underwrote the new Feed in Tariff (FIT) scheme to reward small and medium producers of renewable energy. This means that if you have a suitable site you can take advantage of the scheme by producing power which you can use to directly reduce your electricity bills.
You are paid a fixed generation tariff for everything you produce, and additionally any excess power you do not use can be sold back to the grid at a further 3p/kWh!
The generation amount you will be paid by the government differs depending on scale. This revenue stream is guaranteed for the next 20 years.
